Harmonized indices of consumer prices in February 2005

The HICP average for member countries of the European Economic Area (EU-countries, Iceland and Norway) was 116.3 points (1996=100) in February, 0.3% higher than in January. At the same time, the HICP for Iceland was 129.3 points, 0.2% lower than in the previous month.

The 12-month rate of change of the HICP was 2.1% for the EEA, 2.1% for the Euro-zone while it was 2.9% for Iceland.

The highest inflation rate in the EEA in this twelve month period was 7.0% in Latvia and 4.6% in Estonia. The lowest rate was in Finland where the index remained unchanged and in Denmark where the inflation rate was 1.0%.
