Producer price index in October 2007
The producer price index (PPI) in October 2007 was 115.8 points (4. quarter 2005 = 100), 2.5% lower than in the previous month. The PPI for fish products was 125.2 points which is 1.9% lower than in September (effect on the index -0.7%), and the PPI for power intensive industry products was 123.6 points, 7.8% lower (-1.6%). The PPI for food products was 0.6% higher than in September (0.1%) while the PPI for other manufactured products decreased 1.3% (-0.3%).
The PPI for domestically sold products was 0.1% lower than in the previous month (0.0%) while the index for exported products decreased 4.0% (-2.5%).
From October 2006, the PPI has decreased 3.0%, the PPI for fish products has decreased 0.3% and the PPI for power intensive industry products has fallen 10.0%. The PPI for food products rose 4.0% in the same period.

In evaluating the price changes accounted for here, it may be taken into consideration that the trade-weighted average price of foreign exchange in October 2007 was 2.9% lower than in the preceding month and 1.5% lower than in October 2006.
