Mortality and life expectancy 2007

In 2007, 1,942 persons died in Iceland, 1,002 men and 940 women. The crude death rate was 6.2 per 1,000 population. Mean life expectancy for Icelandic women is now 82.9 years and 79.4 years for men. Icelandic men can now expect to live longer than men in any other country. Life expectancy for women is highest in Japan or 86 years.
