Producer prices increase by 1.1% from previous month
The producer price index (PPI) in January 2012 was 213.6 points (4. quarter 2005 = 100), 1.1% higher than in the previous month. The PPI for fish products was 271.0 points which is 1.6% higher than in December 2011 (effect on the index 0.6%) and the PPI for power intensive industry products was 227.3 points, 0.4% higher (0.1%). The PPI for food products increased by 0.2% and the PPI for other manufactured products rose by 2.4% (0.4%).
The PPI for domestically sold products was 1.0% (0.2%) higher than in the previous month while the index for exported products rose by 1.1% (0.9%).
Compared to January 2011 the PPI has increased by 5.7%. The PPI for fish products rose by 16.3% and the PPI for power intensive industry products decreased by 8.1%. In the same period the PPI for food products rose by 7.5%.

In evaluating the price changes accounted for here, it may be taken into consideration that the trade-weighted average price of foreign exchange in January 2012 was 1.0% higher than in the preceding month and 3.8% higher than in January 2011.
