NEWS RELEASE FISHERIES 13 MAY 2016

The total catch of Icelandic vessels was 104 thousand tonnes in April 2016 which is 39% more than in April last year. Pelagic catch increased by 60% from 36 thousand tonnes to 58 thousand. Demersal catch increased by 17% from 37 thousand tonnes to 43 thousand. The total catch in the 12 month period  May 2015 to April 2016 has decreased by 13% compared to same period in the previous year. The value index for April has incresed by 32.7% compared to April 2015.
