Total catch of Icelandic vessels in August was 120,627 tonnes, a 1% increase from August 2016. Demersal catch was over 39 thousand tonnes, increased by 18%, and cod catch was 21 thousand tonnes, an increase of 25%. Pelagic catch was over 77 thousand tonnes, a decrease of 7%. Flatfish catch was about 3 thousand tonnes and increased by 16%. Shellfish catch decreased by 15% compared with August 2016.

Total catch in the 12 month period from September 2016 to August 2017 was 1,120 thousand tonnes, an increase of 7% compared with the same period a year earlier.

The price value index was 5.9% higher than in August 2016.
