Value of catch from Icelandic vessels was nearly 12.2 billion ISK in February which is more than 25% decrease compared with February 2015, when the value was 16.3 billion ISK.
The decrease in value is due to less pelagic catch, value of pelagic species was just over 1.4 billion ISK in February compared with nearly 6 billion in February 2015. Value of demersal catch was 10.2 billion ISK in February, an increase of 4.2% compared with February 2015. Value of flatfish was 500 million ISK in February which is 23% increase compared with previous year.
Value of catch in the 12 month period from March 2015 to February 2016 increased by 2.3% compared to the same period a year earlier. In this period the value of demersal catch increased by 10.4%, value of flatfish increased by 46.9% but the value of pelagic catch decreased by 25.6%
