Turnover in the business economy, excluding pharmaceuticals, financial and insurance activities, was approximately 3,700 billion ISK in 2015 compared to 3,400 billion ISK in 2014, an increase of 6.8%. Total equity increased by more than 16% and was 2,600 billion ISK at year end 2015. Dividend payments in 2015 were approximately 93 billion ISK, an 8 billion ISK increase from the previous year.
Comparing operating income in selected industries, fisheries had an income of 364 billion ISK (an increase of 4,1%), income of companies in the tourism industry was 479 billion ISK (13%) and income in the manufacturing of basic metals was 247 billion ISK (7%).
Total equity in the tourism industry went from 63 billion ISK at year end 2014 to 91 billion ISK at year end 2015. Increase of total equity in real estate activities was 64 billion ISK, an increase of 23% from 2014 and the increase of equity in fisheries was 38 million ISK or 18%.
Dividend payments in fisheries were approximately 15 billion ISK, a decrease of 6.2 billion ISK from 2014. Tourism industries paid out dividends of more than 11 billion ISK in 2015, an increase of 2.9 billion from the previous year.
