The building cost index compiled in the middle of April 2012 is 115.0 points (December 2009=100), 1.4% higher than in the previous month.

The rise is mostly due to increased distance to the disposition site for excavated soil for the capital area  (effect on the index 1.2%). The site was relocated from Hólmsheiði to Bolaöldur in March 2012. The index applies to May 2012.

In the last twelve months the BCI has increased by 7.8%. The twelve month change is now unaffected by the system error which was corrected in May 2011.
