Statistics on livestock, crops and animal production are based on administrative data from the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority and direct data collection from farmers. Farm structure survey on land use and the structure of agricultural holdings is carried out every three to four years. The Economic accounts for agriculture follow, for the most part, national accounts standards and give information about the total production value of the agricultural industry, its use of inputs, the value added, along with data on investment and depreciation.
