The unadjusted gender pay gap in Iceland was 14% in the year 2019 and 13.6% in the previous year. The gender pay gap increased with age and measured 1.9% for employees aged 24 and younger, 13.3% for the age range 35-44 years old and 21.2% for 55-64 year olds.
There were 28 corporate insolvencies registered in December 2020. Thereof, 22 were for companies that were active in the previous year. The number of employees of companies in tourism, that declared insolvency in the fourth quarter of 2020, increased by 54% from the same quarter in 2019.
An average of 43.4 people died each week in 2020, which was the same average as for the years 2017-2019.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI), based on prices in January 2021, is 490.0 points (May 1988=100), 0.06% lower than in the previous month. The CPI less housing cost is 419.3 points, 0.24% lower than in December 2020.
