The population of Iceland at the end of the 2nd quarter 2021 was 371,580, 190,480 males and 181,100 females. The population increased by 1,700 from the previous quarter. Inhabitants of the capital region were 238,170 and 133,410 lived in others regions.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) based on prices in July 2021, is 503.5 points (May 1988=100), 0.16% higher than in the previous month. The CPI is 4.3% higher in July 2021 than in July 2020.
The producer price index for June 2021 increased by 0.8% from the previous month. The production price of power-intensive industries increased by 2.9% and the production price of marine products increased by 0.1%. The food production price was unchanged from the previous month. The wage index in June increased by 0.4% from previous month. In the last twelve months the monthly wage index has risen by 7.7%. Figures have been updated.
