In the year 2011, the number of visitors to museums and related institutions was 1.5 million. In 2011, visits to museums dropped five per cent from in the previous year, when the number of visitors was all time high, or roughly 1.6 million. Attendance to museums was greatest in the Capital region, some 857 thousand visitors in the last year, which equals 56 per cent of the total. Attendance to museums in other regions was significantly lower.
The figures include museums and special branches of museums, science centres and permanent exhibitions open for public display, which were able to provide the number of visitors.
