Local government elections took place on May 14 2022 and included all 64 municipalities in the country. During the elections, a total of 276,593 people were on the electoral register or 73.0% of the population. Of those, 173,733 voted, or 62.8%.
Women's voter turnout was higher than men's, and voter turnout varied by age, being higher among older than younger voters. The participation of immigrants was 18.6%, but the highest among eligible voters with no foreign background, or 71.0%.
During the elections, 23,950 people voted outside the election meeting, or 13.8%, while the comparable percentage was 12.2% in the 2018 elections.
