There were 689 new registrations of private limited companies in the 2nd quarter of 2017, thereof 189 in April, 258 in May, and 242 in June. New registrations decreased by 11% in the 2nd quarter of 2017, when compared with 771 new registrations in the 2nd quarter of 2016. Looking at new registrations by sections of activity, the greatest number of new registrations was in Financial and insurance activities (111), Construction (94) and Real estate activities (94). When compared with the 2nd quarter of 2016, there was an increase in new registrations from 52 to 64 in Professional, scientific and technical activities (23%), whereas there was a decrease from 39 to 21 in Agriculture, forestry and fishing (46%) and from 57 to 36 in Information and communication (37%). New registrations decreased by 11% over, compared to the prior 12 months. There were 2,643 new registrations during the last 12 months, from April 2016 to March 2017, compared with 2,633 in the previous 12 months.
There were 157 corporate insolvencies registered in the 2nd quarter of 2017, thereof 69 in April, 20 in May and 68 in June. Corporate insolvencies decreased by 55% when compared with the 2nd quarter of 2016, when they were 352. Looking at major sections of activity, there were 31 insolvencies in Construction, compared with 64 in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (52% decrease), and 31 insolvencies in Wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, compared with 66 in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (53% decrease). Corporate insolvencies decreased by 16% compared with the prior 12 months. There were 907 corporate insolvencies over the last 12 months, from July 2016 to June 2017, compared with 683 in the previous 12 months, which is a decrease of 16%.
