There were 227 new registrations of private limited companies in April 2016. New registrations increased by 16% over the last 12 months, from May 2015 to April 2016, compared to the prior 12 months. There were 2,507 new registrations during the period, compared with 2,166 in the previous 12 months. The greatest increase in new registrations was in Real estate activities, from 254 to 404, or a 59% increase from the previous 12 months. Also of note is an increase in registrations from 147 to 227 in Administrative and support service activities (54%), and an increase from 144 to 173 in Accommodation and food service activities (20%). Proportionately, the greatest decrease in new registrations during the period was 16% in Agriculture, forestry and fishing (from 99 to 83).

There were 123 corporate insolvencies registered in April 2016. Corporate insolvencies decreased by 6% over the last 12 months, from May 2015 to April 2016, compared to the prior 12 months. There were 732 corporate insolvencies during the period, compared with 777 in the previous 12 months. The greatest proportional decrease of insolvencies was from 97 to 62 in Real estate activities (36%), and from 65 to 45 in Accommodation and food service activities (31%). The greatest increase in insolvencies during the period was in Administrative and support service activities, where corporate insolvencies increased from 33 to 42 between periods (27%), and in Financial and insurance activities, where the number of insolvencies grew from 52 to 59 (13%).
