New registrations of private limited companies increased by 15% over the last 12 months, from February 2015 to January 2016, compared to the prior 12 months. There were 2,387 new registrations during the period, compared with 2069 in the previous 12 months. The greatest increase of new registrations was in Real estate activities, from 219 new registrations to 368, or a 68% increase from the previous 12 months. Also of note is an increase in registrations from 228 to 298 in Construction (31%) and an increase from 132 to 162 in Accommodation and food service activities (23%). Proportionately, the greatest decrease in new registrations during the period was 7% in Information and communication (from 184 to 171).

Corporate insolvencies decreased by 31% over the last 12 months, from February 2015 to January 2016, compared to the prior 12 months. There were 563 corporate insolvencies during the period, compared with 816 in the previous 12 months. The greatest proportional decrease of insolvencies was in Transportation and storage, going from 31 to 16 (48%). Also of mention is a decrease in insolvencies going from  59 to 33 in Manufacturing (44%), and from 58 to 33 in Financial and insurance activities (43%). There was a decrease in insolvencies for all major sections of economic activity during the period. Proportionately, the slowest rate of decrease was in Agriculture, forestry and fishing, where insolvencies decreased by 9% (from 23 to 21).
