Material consumption in the Icelandic economy was 19.6 tons per person in 2022 which is a 9.6% increase from the previous year. Meanwhile, the weight of material flowing from the economy into Iceland's nature was measured at 15.7 tons per person in 2022.
Material consumption is calculated as the weight of all material taken from nature in Iceland plus the weight of all imported material, minus the weight of exports.
