Statistics Iceland publishes now an issue in the Statistical Series on External trade in goods for the year 2010. Goods exported from Iceland amounted to 561,000 million ISK and goods imported into Iceland amounted to 440,800 million ISK fob, 477,200 million ISK cif. Thus there was a trade surplus of goods, calculated on fob value, of 120,200 million ISK whereas the trade surplus in 2009 was 90,300 million ISK. Exports of goods increased by 12.0% at current prices while imports of goods increased by 7.0%. Marine products constituted 39.3% of all exports of goods and manufacturing products 55.4%, but the largest import categories were industrial supplies, capital goods (except for transport) and consumer goods other than food and beverages. Largest trading countries were the Netherlands in exports of goods and Norway in imports of goods and EEA was the most important market area for both exports of goods and imports of goods.
Statistics Iceland now also releases on its website detailed tables of final figures for 2010. It should be noted that the Directorate of Customs now classifies boiled and pealed shrimp in chapter 16 of the Customs Tariff instead of in chapter 3 as before. Statistics Iceland has therefore corrected the data of 2008 and 2009 accordingly.
