NEWS RELEASE EXTERNAL TRADE 27 MAY 2019

The surplus of balance of trade in goods and services in the first quarter of 2019, as published in National Accounts and Balance of Payments, was 33,200 million ISK according to preliminary figures, compared with a surplus of 9,300 million ISK in the first quarter of 2018. The surplus of converted trade in goods was 3,500 million ISK while the surplus of balance of trade in services was 29,700 million ISK, in the first quarter of 2019. Total exports of goods and services for the first quarter of 2019 were 308,400 million ISK while total imports of goods and services were 275,200 million ISK.

Parallel to this publication, Statistics Iceland updates data for monthly trade in goods and services for the first quarter of 2019. In March 2019, total exports of trade in goods and services are estimated 100,100 million ISK and total imports of trade in goods and services are estimated 97,400 million ISK. The surplus of balance of trade in goods and services is therefore estimated 2,700 million ISK in March 2019.

These figures are published in the Transition tables on Statistic Iceland’s website, which harmonizes the standards for trade in goods and balance of payment.
