NEWS RELEASE EXTERNAL TRADE 06 SEPTEMBER 2018

According to preliminary figures for August 2018, the value of exported goods amounted to ISK 50,900 million fob and the value of imported goods amounted to ISK 65,400 million fob. Thus, there was a deficit of ISK 14,500 million in August 2018, calculated on fob value.

In August 2018 the value of exported goods was 5,700 million higher than in August 2017 or 12.7% at current exchange rate, mainly due to increased exports in ferrosilicon, aluminum and other products.

The value of imported goods in August 2018 was 13,300 million higher than in the same month last year or 25.6% at current exchange rate. This difference is mostly due to increased imports of capital goods and fuels.

It should be borne in mind that these are preliminary figures that may change due to regular revision.
