According to preliminary figures for May 2018, the value of exported goods amounted to ISK 53,300 million fob and the value of imported goods amounted to ISK 66,200 million fob. Thus, there was a deficit of ISK 12,800 million in May 2018, calculated on fob value.
In May 2018 the value of exported goods was 4,100 million higher than in May 2017 or 8.2% at current exchange rate, mainly due to increased exports in marine products.
The value of imported goods in May 2018 was 6,700 million lower than in the same month last year or 9.3% at current exchange rate. This difference is mostly due to imports of ships and aircraft.
It should be borne in mind that these are preliminary figures, so they may change due to regular revision.
