According to preliminary figures for September 2019 the value of exported goods amounted to ISK 50,900 million fob and the value of imported goods amounted to ISK 68,000 million fob. Thus, there was a trade deficit, calculated on fob value, of ISK 17,100 million as compared with a trade deficit of ISK 14,300 million in September 2018, at current rates of exchange. Trade in ships and aircraft has little effects on the figures at this time.
In September 2019 the value of exported goods was ISK 2,100 million higher than in September 2018 or 4.4% at current exchange rate. The greatest increase was in marine products and manufacturing products decreased most.
The value of imported goods in September 2019 was ISK 5,000 million higher than in September 2018 or 7.9% at current exchange rate. The increase was mainly in industrial supplies but the decrease was mostly in capital goods.
It should be borne in mind that these are preliminary figures and might change due to regular revision.
