Export of services for the fourth quarter of 2010, according to preliminary figures, was 68,026 million ISK and the import of services 66,304 million ISK. Therefore, the services trade surplus in the fourth quarter of 2010 was 1,722 million ISK.

Transport was the largest category both within export and import of services and the surplus of transport was approximately 8,043 million ISK, while the surplus of other services than transport and travel was approximately 0,500 million ISK. However, there was a deficit of travel services of approximately 6,822 million ISK.

According to preliminary figures, the export of services for the year 2010 was 308,176 million ISK but the import of services 264,207 million ISK. The services trade surplus was therefore 43,969 million ISK in 2010.

The surplus of transport was approximately 58,885 million ISK in 2010 while the surplus of travel services was approximately 2,113 million ISK. However, there was a deficit of other services than transport and travel of approximately 17,030 million ISK in 2010.

Figures of external trade in services for 2010 by detailed classification and by countries will be published on 31 August 2011.

External trade in services is still at developing stage at Statistics Iceland. Previously published data are reviewed in relation to each new publication. The revision this time has resulted in changes in all quarters of 2009 and 2010.
