NEWS RELEASE EXTERNAL TRADE 24 FEBRUARY 2006

The value of exported goods from Iceland in January 2006 amounted to 14,100 million ISK while the value of imports amounted to 25,500 million. Thus, there was a trade deficit of 11,400 million as compared with a trade deficit of 4,300 million in January 2005, at constant rates of exchange¹. The value of exports was 9% higher than in January 2005 and the value of imports was 47.5% higher than in January 2005, at constant rates of exchange.
