Balance of trade
The value of exported goods from Iceland amounted to ISK 82,600 million fob and the value of imported goods amounted to ISK 89,600 million fob January-May 2004. Thus there was a trade deficit of 7,000 million as compared with a trade surplus of 2,400 million in January-May 2003, at fixed rates of exchange¹.
Exports
The total value of exports of goods January-May 2004 was 3,500 million or 4.4% higher at constant rates of exchange than the same period the year before.
Imports
The total value of imports of goods January-May 2004 showed an increase of 12,900 million or 16.8% higher than in the same period last year, at fixed rates of exchange.
