According to preliminary figures for March 2009 the value of exported goods amounted to ISK 34,900 million fob and the value of imported goods amounted to ISK 26,600 million fob. Thus, there was a trade surplus of ISK 8,300 million in March 2009, according to the preliminary figures, calculated on fob value.
With regards to exports there is an indication of increase in the exported value of marine products and ferro-silicon but a decrease in the value of exported ships in March compared with February 2009. With regards to imports there is an indication of decrease in the imports of industrial supplies but an increase in the import of consumer goods other than food and beverages in March compared with February 2009.
