NEWS RELEASE EXTERNAL TRADE 05 NOVEMBER 2008

According to preliminary figures for October 2008 the value of exported goods amounted to ISK 47,000 million fob and the value of imported goods amounted to ISK 36,400 million fob. Thus, there was a trade surplus of ISK 10,600 million in October 2008, according to the preliminary figures, calculated on fob value.

It should be noted that according to international standards, the value of imports and exports is measured when the goods cross the borders, irrespective of when the currency transaction takes place in which substantial delays have occurred in October.

There is an indication of increase in the value of exported marine products and manufacturing products but a decrease in the exports of aircrafts and the imports of most items has decreased in October compared with September this year.
