The total catch of Icelandic vessels in 2018 was 1,259 thousand tonnes, 79 thousand tonnes more than in the previous year. The first sale value was 128 billion ISK which is 15.6% increase from 2017.

Demersal catch was 480 thousand tonnes in 2018 which is 51 thousand tonnes more than for the previous year. The value of landed demersal species was just over 91 billion ISK and incresed by 17.9% from 2017.

Catch of pelagic species was 739 thousand tonnes which is an increase by 21 thousand tonnes from 2017. This was mostly due to an increase in catch of blue whiting by roughly 64 thousand tonnes. The first sale value of pelagic catch in 2018 was 24.5 billion ISK and increased by 2.6% from previous year.
