The total fish catch of Icelandic vessels in 2022 was 1,418 thousand tonnes, which is 22% more than in 2021. Pelagic catch was 956 thousand tonnes, 46% more than in 2021. Demersal catch decreased by 8% between years, from 472 thousand tonnes in 2021 to 434 thousand tonnes in 2022.
The catch in December 2022 was 48 thousand tonnes, a 62% decrease compared with December 2021. Demersal catch in the month was 28 thousand tonnes and pelagic catch was about 19 thousand tonnes.
