The total fish catch in February 2026 was more than 137 thousand tonnes. Thereof capelin amounted nearly 86 thousand tonnes. Demersal catch increased by 6% year-on-year, while flatfish catch increased by 50%.
During the period from March 2025 to February 2026, the total catch reached 1,096 thousand tonnes, representing a 11% increase compared with the same period year earlier. Pelagic catch increased by 22% compared with the previous period while flatfish catch decreased by 13% and demersal catch by 1%.
