The total catch of Icelandic vessels was 49 thousand tonnes in June 2021 which is 21% less than in June 2020. Demersal catch was 35 thousand tonnes, mostly cod or 20 thousand tonnes. Pelagic catch in June 2021 was 54% less than in previous June, mostly blue whiting, 5,900 tonnes and mackerel 4,100 tonnes.
In the 12 month period from July 2020 to end of June 2021 the total catch was just under 1.1 billion tonnes which is a 4% increase from the previous 12 month period. Pelagic catch was 562 thousand tonnes and demersal catch was 483 thousand tonnes.
In fixed prices the catch in June 2021 was 4.4% less than in June 2020.
