The total fish catch in March 2022 was 145 thousand tonnes according to preliminary data, which is a 41 thousand tonnes increase from March 2021. Demersal catch was 48 thousand tonnes and pelagic catch was 95 thousand tonnes.
In the 12 month period from April 2021 to March 2022 the total catch was about 1.5 million tonnes which is 37% more than in the same period one year earlier. Pelagic catch was just over one million tonnes and demersal catch was just under 450 thousand tonnes.
Fixed price calculations are postponed due to lack of data on the quantity and value of capelin roe, which may have significant effects on the outcome.
