The total fish catch in November 2022 was 70,628 tonnes which is 27% less than in November last year. The decrease is due to less pelagic catch, which was 29 thousand tonnes compared with over 56 thousand tonnes in November 2021. Demersal catch was just over 39 thousand tonnes which is 2% less than last year. Of demersal species, cod was just over 22 thousand tonnes.
In the 12 months period from December 2021 to November 2022 the total catch was nearly 1.5 million tonnes which is 35% more than in the same period one year earlier. Of that, pelagic catch was 1,028 tonnes. Cod catch in the period decreased by 7.8% and total demersal catch decreased by 6.3%.
