Total catch of Icelandic vessels in December 2010 was 53,369 tonnes compared to 57,958 tonnes in December 2009. Demersal species accounted for 31 thousand tonnes, thereof cod nearly 14 thousand tonnes, haddock 4 thousand tonnes, saithe 4 thousand tonnes and redfish nearly 5 thousand tonnes. The pelagic catch was 20 thousand tonnes, thereof hearing over 13 thousand tonnes and capelin over 5 thousand tonnes.
At constant prices the volume of the catch decreased by 8.2% in December 2010 compared with December 2009 and 8% on average between those years.
