NEWS RELEASE FISHERIES 17 AUGUST 2016

The total catch of Icelandic vessels was roughly 72 thousand tonnes in July 2016 which is 25% less than in July last year. Pelagic catch decreased by 38% while demersal catch increased by 6%. The total catch in a 12 month period from August 2015 to July 2016 decreased by 290 thousand tonnes when compared to the same period twelve months earlier. The value index for July has decreased by 19.2% when compared to July 2015.
