The total fish catch of Icelandic vessels was close to 73 thousand tonnes in June 2015, an increase of 16,400 tonnes compared to June 2014. Cod catch was constant, but other demersal catch increased by roughly 2900 tonnes or 9% when compared with June 2014. Flatfish catch increased by 842 tonnes (40%) and pelagic catch by 13,000 tonnes (63%).
At constant prices, the volume of catch increased by 14.3% in June 2015 compared to June 2014. In the last 12 months the total catch has increased by 236 thousand tonnes, which is a 21.6% increase. This is mostly due to pelagic catch, which increased by roughly 266 thousand tonnes between periods.
