The total catch of Icelandic vessels was 144 thousand tonnes in May 2015, an increase of 12,500 tonnes compared with May 2014. Demersal catch decreased by 6.8% compared with May 2014. Flatfish catch increased by 30.8% from the previous year, and pelagic catch, which was mostly blue-whiting, increased by17,7%. In the last 12 months the total catch has increased by 235 thousand tonnes or 21.9% which is due to more pelagic catch than in the previous 12 months.
At constant prices, the volume of catch decreased by 0.6% in May 2015 compared with May 2014.
