The total catch of Icelandic vessels was 1,154 thousand tonnes which is an increase by 13% from 2020. The value of the catch on first sale was 162 billion ISK in 2021 which is a 9% increase from the previous year.
The catch of demersal species was 470 thousand tonnes with the value of 117 billion ISK but was 113 billion ISK in 2020.
The pelagic catch was 652 thousand tonnes, 23% more than in 2020. The value of pelagic catch was 33,8 billion ISK and increased by 42% from the previous year.
Flat fish catch was 25 thousand tonnes, 7% increase from the previous year with value of 10 billion ISK, 2% more than in 2020. Shellfish catch was 6 thousand tonnes, 28% increase from the previous year. The value of shellfish was 1.5 billion ISK, which is 20% more than in the year before.
