The total catch of Icelandic vessels in 2022 was 1,415 thousand tonnes which is an increase by 23% from the previous year. The value of catch on first sale was 195 billion ISK which is 20% more than in 2021.
The value of demersal catch was 136 billion ISK, of which cod had the value of 85 billion ISK. The value of pelagic catch was about 48 billion ISK, of which the value of capelin was 19.5 billion ISK.
The value of catch on first sale should not be confused with the export value of fisheries products which is estimated at about 350 billion ISK in 2022.
