The total value of catch from Icelandic fishing vessels in July was nearly 14 billion ISK, 35.6% more than in July 2018. Demersal catch value was 9.6 billion ISK, an increase of 49.2%, and value of all major demersal species increased. Value of pelagic catch, where the dominant specimen was mackerel, was nearly 3.3 billion ISK and increased by 73.4% compared with July 2018. Value of flatfish was 782 million ISK, and shellfish catch was 253 million.
Total value of catch in the 12 month period from August 2018 to July 2019 was nearly 140 billion ISK which is an 11.7% increase compared with the same period a year earlier.
