The value of catch from Icelandic vessels in June was just over 7.1 billion ISK which is 21.9% less than in June 2016. However, the tonnage of catch was 26% more than in June 2016 or nearly 53 thousand tonnes.
Value of demersal catch was nearly 5.4 billion ISK which is a 26.4% decrease compared with June 2016. Value of cod was 3.3 billion ISK, a decrease of 19.3% although the tonnage increased by 2.8%. Value of haddock was 23.5% less than in June 2016 but the tonnage was nearly the same. Value of flatfish catch was 1,165 million ISK, a decrease of 5.1% compared with June 2016. Value of pelagic catch was nearly 300 million ISK in June and value of shellfish catch was nearly 276 million ISK.
Total value of catch in the 12 month period from July 2016 to June 2017 was 112.4 billion ISK which amounts to 19.8% decrease compared with the same period a year earlier.
