The value of catch in January was almost 9.2 billion ISK compared to 10.4 billion ISK in January 2015.
The decrease in value is mostly due to less pelagic catch wich value was barely 1.2 billion ISK compared with almost 2.5 billion ISK in January 2015. Value of demersal catch was just over 7.4 billion ISK which is roughly the same as previous year. Value of flatfish catch was just under 440 million ISK in January, an increase of 18.3% compared to January 2015. Value of shellfish catch was just over 100 million ISK in January which is 6.9% less than in January 2015.
Value of catch in the 12 month periode from February 2015 to January 2016 increased by 8.5% compared to the same periode a year earlier. In that timespan the value of demersal catch increased by 11.3%, value of flatfish by 40.1%, but the value of pelagic catch decreased by 5%.
