The value of catch from Icelandic fishing vessels in October was 12.1 billion ISK, 1.9% less than in October last year. Demersal catch value increased by 2.9% and the total value was 9.1 billion ISK. Cod and haddock increased in value compared to October last year, cod by 7.7%, haddock by 6.2%. Value of pelagic catch was 11.3% less than in October 2018, or about 2.2 billion ISK whereas it was nearly 2.5 billion in October 2018. The dominant pelagic species was herring, with value of about 2.2 billion ISK. Value of flatfish was 22.3% less than in October 2018 or 655 million ISK.
Total value of catch in the 12 month period from November 2018 to October 2019 was 144 million ISK which is a 14.2% increase compared with the same period a year earlier.
