The value of catch from Icelandic vessels in September 2017 was 11.1 billion ISK which is 12.5% less than in September 2016. The tonnage of catch was nearly 126 thousand tonnes which is 11% more than in September 2016.
Demersal catch value was 6 billion ISK, which is 13.1% less than in September 2016. The value of cod was just over 4 billion ISK which is a 10.5% decrease from the previous year. The value of pelagic catch was 4.2 billion ISK compared with 4.8 billion in September 2016, a decrease of 12.6%. Value of flatfish was 595 million ISK which is 5% less than in September 2016. The value of shellfish decreased as well, was 207.3 million ISK compared with 236.5 million in September 2016.
Total value of catch in the 12 month period from October 2016 to September 2017 was 109.3 billion ISK which is a 20.8% decrease compared with catch value for the same period one year earlier.
