The total value of sold production amounted to 545 billion ISK in 2008, an increase of 160 billion ISK from the previous year, 10.6% in real terms. The value of sold production excluding fish production and manufacturing of basic metals accounted for 187 billion ISK compared with 174 billion ISK in 2007. The value of sold production increased in 14 out of every 18 economic activities during this period. The greatest increase was in the manufacture of basic metals which value of sold production rose from 90 billion ISK in 2007 to 196 billion ISK in 2008.

The share of each economic activity in the total production was relatively stable between 2007 and 2008. The economic activity of food and beverage manufacture had the highest proportion with a share of 43% in 2008, thereof 29.7% in fish production.
