Mid-year series discontinued
Statistics Iceland has decided to discontinue the series on mid-year population which was started in 1997. These figures were mainly intended for the calculation of frequencies and population rates. From 2011 these figures will be supplanted by figures on the average population, which is the simple average of population figures for 1 January of the reference year and the 1 January figures of the subsequent year. The average population totals for the year 2011 will thus be available with the publication of the 1 January 2012 figures in February next year.
