In June 2026, there were 11,500 unemployed individuals aged 16 to 74 according to seasonally adjusted results from Icelandic Labour force survey. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5%, the employment rate 74.4%, and the activity rate 78.4%. Seasonally adjusted unemployment decreased by 0.6 percentage points between May and June, the employment rate decreased by 1.9 percentage points, and the activity rate decreased by 2.4 percentage points.
According to the unadjusted measurements, unemployment was 3.9% in June 2026. The number of unemployed individuals was around 9,200. The employment rate was 77.9%, corresponding to just under 228,700 people, and the activity rate was 81%, or about 237,900 individuals in the labour force. Compared with the same month in 2025, measured unemployment increased by 1.7 percentage points, the employment rate fell by 5.4 percentage points, and the activity rate decreased by 4.1 percentage points.
