A total of 8,200 individuals were unemployed in February 2024 according to seasonally adjusted results from the Icelandic Labour Force Survey. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.5% in February, the employment rate was 78.4% and the activity rate was 81.3%. The unemployment rate decreased by 0.7 percentage points between months while the employment rate increased by 0.6 points and the activity rate remained the same.
Changed methods and new estimation of the population in Iceland show that there is a need to revise the estimated population in the Icelandic Labor Force Survey. The figures that have been published for the year 2024 should therefore be regarded as preliminary.
