In total, 12,900 were unemployed in February 2025 according to seasonally adjusted results from the Icelandic labour force survey, thereof 5,800 men and 7,100 women.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.5%, increasing by 0.6 percentage points between months. The employment rate was 76.0% and the activity rate was 80.4%. The seasonally adjusted employment rate decreased by 1.4 percentage points between months and the activity rate decreased by 1.0 percentage point.
It is estimated that 30,600 individuals had unmet need for employment (labour market slack), which is equivalent to 12.8% of the labour force and potential labour force. Labour market slack increased by 1.2 percentage points between months.
